    Description

1977 Grady White 204C Hatteras Overnighter Walk Around
Cool vintage Grady White in respectable shape for a boat more than 40 years old. This boat always turns heads at the marina/boat ramp and gets a ton of thumbs up when out cruising. This was the original Grady White walk around fishing machine. These boats are heavily built using a lot of fiberglass, have self bailing decks and no through hull fittings. Leaving the drain plug out is about the only way to sink it.
"The 204-C Hatteras Overnighter was introduced for the 1975 model year. Taking an existing hull, Grady-White created a design with a single-level deck that surrounded a cuddy cabin and helm station, giving safe and open access all around the boat. Walkaround boats remain a steady seller for Grady-White and many other builders."
    The Hull
I'm the third owner and have done my best to maintain the boat reasonably for more than the last decade.
The prior owner had a new transom put on and had the stringers re-'glassed in the late 90's.
Steering and throttle cables were replaced in '11.
In '12 I had the bottom professionally blasted down the gel coat (removing the prior 30+ years worth of bottom paint) and then re-faired the bottom to remove any blisters, did 2-3 coats of Interlux barrier coat and two coats of Interlux bottom paint (the bilge is dry). I've done one additional coat of bottom paint since then that is now in fair condition.
Above the water line the hull has been painted several times with Interlux brightside polyurethane enamel (in fire red), the last time in '18.
The gel coat has the hairline "spiderwebs" and long-ago filled in screw holes you'd expect on a boat this age. It is generally in pretty good shape, with a few places that could use some polishing.
I've replaced just about every screw, bolt, nut and washer I could get my hands on with stainless hardware, as well as much of the deck hardware.
I've rewired everything (several times now) and used marine grade wiring and waterproof heat shrink connectors for everything.
    The Engine
The engine is a 1990 Evinrude E200STLESE purchased new by the prior owner that is now in need of repair/replacement. The boat was last used in the fall of 2019 and has sat idle since because of COVID (the steering was starting to get difficult when it was last used and now the swivel joint in the midsection is locked up, among other repairs that are likely required, including resealing the lower unit). The boat currently uses an external fuel tank.
    The Trailer
The trailer is a 2003. In '18 I replaced both axels, all 4 springs and all bolts/shackles, all 4 wheels and tires, and re-carpeted the bunks. I have k in receipts from this work. It is solid and hauls well. There is some rust in the typical places you see it on this kind of trailer.
    The Bottom Line
This is a one-of-a-kind vintage boat. Like any boat of this age, it has lived a good long life and has scars to show it. But, with some care and repair/repowering, you can have her turning heads again without too many busted knuckles.
She's currently located in Wrightsville Beach, NC and you're welcome to inspect prior to bidding.
