    Description

    SILO 4/FALL 1963.
    This sale is for a
    very rare
    literary journal called the
    "Silo"
    from Bennington College, VT in 1963. This journal is
    super rare
    because it contains the very 1st appearance of the lyrics of "The Times They Are A-Changin'" by Bob Dylan.  Make sure to see all of the photos below. This song was 1st released on Dylan's 3rd LP of the same name on 1/13/64. The construction of this journal is just amazing, it almost has a hand-made quality to it. The cover is heavier stock paper & you can feel the ink. The paper used on the inside pages are of various weights, type & shades. There are several inserts (the lyrics being one) & one is in color & folds open into 2 pages. Also, there are 6 drawings by
    Tonia Noell
    which I have pictured 1 in the photos.
    This was a very limited run...apparently only in the hundreds with not many known to have survived.

    This journal is in
    VG++/NM condition.
    This journal is in basically
    unread condition
    but does have a manufacturing issue. This journal has never been trimmed which is the last part of the construction process. The cover extends over the pages & the inside pages are still bound together because the edges were never trimmed. This journal has never been fully opened. The extended edges on the cover are chipped & bent with some small tears but if this had been trimmed the cover would be close to NM condition. The inside pages are in
    NM/NM- condition
    with no writing, no creases & no tears except 1 tiny 1/8" tear on 1 page. Very nice! Take the time to check out all of the photos because they tell the story here!!
