Description

The Bull Roarer has authentification and is from the North Dakota Chippewa and was used by all tribes west of the Mississippi.  The chippewa's were among the few tribes that kept the ceremonil meaning.  The task of the medicine man by taking wood from a tree struck by lightning, was to produce the moaning of of the wind, the ledgendary sound bring rain and thunder storms.  This measures approx. 11" Long X 1 1/2" Wide X 1/2" Thick.
The 1974, woodcut poster is from "The Little Bighorn Medicine Show".  This is an artist prood by R. Lyons signed on front and verified on the back.  This is mounted in it's orginal dark, wood frame with matting and glass.  This frame measures approx. 17" Tall X 16 3/4" Wide X 3/4" Thick.  The print measures approx. 8 1/4" X 7 3/4" X 1".
The tomahawk is made with split hand carved tree branch secured with animal gut hardened and red-dyed leather wrapped around what tooks like quail feathers to secure a triangular shaped celt stone.  The handle measures approx. 18" and the total tomahawk is 18 1/2" X 5 1/2" X 1" approx. A hole at the base of the handle holds a leather knotted, fringed hand loop.
These three pieces would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
